A Pair of Staffordshire Spaniels - circa 1850

This lovely pair of Spaniels have bright,
feathered red markings, finely painted snouts, separate front legs
and very distinctive green bases.

Queen Victoria's favourite dog was a King Charles Spaniel named "Dash"
and the Staffordshire potters started making Spaniels of all shapes and sizes to
decorate fireplaces throughout the Country.

These delightful spaniels are in very good condition,
with some minor chipping to the enamels
and 2 very faint hairlines on the bases.

Spaniels of this model, with this colouring are exceptionally rare
and these are possibly the most strikingly coloured
pair of dogs you will ever see.

Height: 7.75 inches
