Pair of Staffordshire Greyhounds - circa 1850


A superb pair of Staffordshire "Disraeli" Greyhounds.


Nearly all the Staffordshire "Long Dogs" are indeed Greyhounds.
Often referred to as Whippets, no the king of dogs in Victorian times
was the Greyhound.  Coursing was hugely popular and the
Champion dogs were celebreties.



This is a lovely pair, beautifully painted and very finely modelled.
This outstanding model of "Disraeli" greyhounds can vary greatly in quality.
As you can see, particularly in the detailed pictures below,
the best examples have cuts between the hind legs and the tails.



They are in very good condition,
with restoration to 1 ear of each dog.
