A Pair of Staffordshire Pottery Coursing Greyhounds circa - 1850

A Stunning pair of Greyhound Spillvases.

Nearly all the Staffordshire "Long Dogs" are indeed Greyhounds.
Often referred to as Whippets, no - the king of dogs in Victorian times
was the Greyhound.  Coursing was hugely popular and the
Champion dogs were celebreties.

This dramatic pair of coursing greyhounds,
with their large spillvases.
They show more movement in the modelling
than most Staffordshire figures.
You can see the speed - of Greyhound and Hare.

This is the only really good, true pair of this model I have found.
There some flaking of the green enamels.

There is no damage and
there is no restoration.

Height: 11 inches
